Day 3 Reflection: What's the Catch?

Reflecting on today’s learning journey and browsing through the shared reflections, I believe that progress must be inclusive and mindful of the voices and traditions that shape a place’s identity. Development should never come at the expense of those who have long shaped the land and its stories. True progress uplifts everyone, not just those with the power to shape skylines.

The contrast between the yacht club and the Orang Laut community space starkly highlights the divide between wealth and heritage, serving as a reminder of the delicate balance between development and respect for history, especially for marginalized communities.

The tools of these communities, once integral to their way of life, now lie forgotten—much like their people, left behind in the pursuit of progress. These fishing traps are more than just artifacts; they represent a culture that has been caught in the crossfire of modernity and development, overshadowed by a world that has chosen to race forward, ignoring the foundation upon which it was built.

To quote one of my favorite rappers, NF:
