Through conducting three workshops on Youth Political Participation, I have gathered some important learnings. In my first workshop, I arranged it in my own Bangladeshi community using Bangla (mixed with English). Although more than 60 people registered, only around 10+ joined, which made me feel a bit disappointed. Later I realized the mistake was mine—I didn’t send enough reminders beforehand. This helped me understand how important proper communication and follow-up are for ensuring good participation.
In my second workshop, I collaborated with my fellows from India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka (Ragib, Bhavnesh, and Viranga). This one was conducted in English for an international audience. It was a wonderful experience for me as I enjoyed working with such friendly co-hosts and seeing how youth from different South Asian countries could connect through the same topic.
Finally, in my third workshop, I again conducted it by myself on 21 August. This time I had more than 44 registrations, and around 35+ joined, with at least 20 being active participants. I really enjoyed this session because participants were more interactive and engaged, which made the workshop more lively and meaningful for me.
Overall, these experiences taught me that the real joy of conducting a session comes when participants actively share their thoughts and engage in discussions. I also learned that small preparations, like timely reminders and creating a comfortable environment, can make a big difference in participation and impact
